HELLO BABY! THE ART OF INTENTION

Years ago, who would have thought I would find myself having taught over 120 pregnancy yoga classes to more than 90 beautiful Mums to be in the Sunshine Coast Community? – Here’s the thing, it has not always been that way and this is where I began as a new Mum … 26 years ago I became a mum for the first time in the middle of my living room! I had just turned 23 years old and my on/off partner of five years did not want to be a dad. Throughout that unplanned pregnancy I struggled with feelings of doubt, uncertainty, shame, excitement, guilt, fear and loneliness.

At 20 weeks pregnant , I plucked up the courage to tell my parents that I was going to be a mum. That was the scariest moment of my life to date! It was getting harder to hide that my waistline had disappeared or I would have procrastinated longer!

The only place I felt normal, accepted and treated without judgment was at my weekly midwife meeting. It was time out for me to connect with my unborn baby and other mums-to-be in a sacred space set amongst the California Redwoods where we had a chance to ask questions, talk about our fears, learn about what to expect from the 2nd time mums, and be supported unconditionally and without anyone else’s agenda being pushed on us.

3 grown kids later, and I never forget how important it is for mums-to-be to have a soft place to land. I had planned to be a home-birth midwife, but life got in the way. When I undertook my level 1 yoga teacher training, I knew that I wanted to use this knowledge to serve our local community of mums-to-be. I am passionate about all things pregnancy, babies and birthing.

As a Pregnancy Yoga teacher, my intention or Sankalpa is to hold a space of support, friendship, connection, non-judgement, joy, tears, laughter & community with the mums-to-be on the Sunshine Coast. For me, this is the ultimate expression of Yoga which means Union.

In my pregnancy yoga classes, you will receive all that and more. We will practice breathing techniques to help us feel calm and focused while we breathe our babies into the world. We will explore movement to ease tension in our bodies & mind, and to create strength and stillness to help us through labour, delivery, & recovery. We will discuss what to expect and our own birth experiences without any scary or fear-based stories. We will explore how to ask for and receive help and support with grace. We will rest and enjoy guided meditations to prepare us to meet our bundle of joy.

Please join me for a very special experience of Pregnancy Yoga.
