EVERYDAY ENLIGHTENMENT FOR 2015

Setting a New Years Resolution doesn’t make it so. Living it does.

A student once said to me her personal secret to being happy was to wake up every morning and set an intention and before going to sleep at night think of at least one thing you are grateful for.

My intention for 2015 is to continue to be a student, teacher and my own best friend as best as I can by having the courage to Practice Everyday Enlightenment.

For those who are even a little bit curious or who consider their lifetime goal is to become ‘enlightened’ here are some great words of wisdom, realistic tips and a practical perspective of Everyday Enlightenment.
Inspired from ‘Every Day Enlightenment’ by Best Selling Author, Dan Millman.

Discover Your Worth – your sense of worth grows by doing what is worthy. Here’s the thing: you do not have to feel worthy; you just need to treat yourself like you would a loved one or an honoured guest.

Reclaim Your Will – stop waiting to feel ‘motivated’ before you start. Take ‘skilful action’.

Energise Your Body – BREATHE MOVE REST.

Manage Your Money – value and use money wisely, as you would any other form of energy. Stretch your talents to produce abundance then SPEND GIVE + SAVE.

Tame Your Mind – look beyond your filters to grasp the world as it is, in its moment to moment simplicity. Let thoughts be, focus your attention on the matter at hand in this moment, and you will find inner peace and illumination.

Trust Your Intuition – you know and can access far more than you have read or studied or been told. Trust this deeply rooted, ancient human capacity. Listen to your mind, but trust your heart.

Face Your Fears – respect fear, but never let it be your master. If physical danger is involved, listen well; if psychological danger challenges you, then do what you most fear – live as a peaceful warrior.

Illuminate Your Shadow – deal with your darkness to see your light. Embrace all your opposites to find wholeness, authenticity, compassion.

Embrace Your Sexuality – sexual enlightenment transcends self-denial and self-indulgence to find balanced expression, forming an intimate bond between you, your partner, and Spirit.

Awaken Your Heart – the emotion of LOVE comes and goes like waves. Enduring love of the awakened heart is not a feeing but an ACTION. Combining love and will, you walk the same path as the saints by showing loving-kindness to all other beings whether or not you ‘feel like it’.

SERVE Your World – when you have seen what there is to see, when life has revealed you to yourself as you are, your search becomes how to best serve, to connect, to find meaning in the moment and purpose in the play.

This is why I decided to become a yoga teacher – I listened to my mind, trusted my hearts answer to my question – how best can I serve.

Thanks Dan Millman for the continued inspiration from many years ago when I first read this.
