Yin-To-Dance Teacher Training
Yin to Dance teaches you to guide people into their bodies and use ‘Music as Medicine’ a creative doorway into Meditation. Combining grounded Yin Yoga to help people settle into their bodies and breath with conscious, free-form dance. But here’s what makes it different: you learn to offer choice. Some students need structure. Some need freedom. Most need both at different times. You’ll learn to facilitate all of it — guided choreographed sequences of Yoga &/or creative dance for those building confidence, free-form movement through ‘Yoga of The Subtle Body & Mindful Dialogue’ for those ready to express, and everything in between. It’s not about looking a certain way or having to get moves right or in time. It’s about creating a safe container where people can move however that looks for them. There is so much joy in immersing yourself in a variety of music, letting the vibrations move the body and free the mind. There is a real Art to this type of facilitation and inward listening and it’s an absolute joy to guide people through Yin-To-Dance experiences. You do not need to be a dancer or a Yoga Teacher to do this training as their are various pathways to choose from.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
FOUNDATIONAL PRACTICES
· Yin Yoga sequences and guiding principles that connects the physical, breath, mind and nervous system, fascia release, introspection through slowness and invitational mindful inquiry.
· Guided sequences — structured movement that builds confidence and helps people to connect to their centre and safely transition the way they need to moment to moment.
· Free-form embodied movement — how to guide using ‘Yoga of the Subtle Body’ – inspired by natures elements, with and without choreography, honor individual expression, create safety for authentic movement and opportunities for group connection if and when people choose it.
· Blending both approaches — building your unique teaching style through structure + freedom. You’ll learn a creative repertoire, an introduction into various movement/dance styles and music – the world is your oyster as far as this goes! We have alot of fun with all the possibilities.
· How to read a room — sensing energy shifts, knowing when to guide and when to step back.
SOUND AS MEDICINE
· Beyond singing bowls — drums, live instruments, didgeridoo, soundscapes as healing doorways and collaborative opportunities. A chance to be introduced to basic drum and sound bowl inclusions (with option to undertake further training in these areas)
· Live musician collaboration — working with DJs, musicians, and sound scape artists.
· Props + sound — exploring creative ways to deepen the experience
· Music selection for embodied movement — pacing, intention, learning about the ‘wave’ of creating mindful playlists and sets – live or recorded. This part is such a joy!! And fascinating to see how your own body, mind and heart responds to different rhythms, beats, melodies, frequencies and silence.
SUBTLE BODY & SELF-INQUIRY
· Chakra wisdom + Nadi pathways — understanding energy through movement and sound
· Self-inquiry practices — finding your own steady ground, exploring creative spark without burnout
· Heart-led Yoga Nidra + guided meditations — guiding others inward while holding group space
· Clarity in communication — listening within, speaking with purpose, using music as a doorway to deeper listening
FACILITATION MASTERY
· Holding group space while honoring individual journeys — the paradox of group + solitude
· Trauma-aware & Trauma Informed movement facilitation — creating safety for expression, integration, and release. Education on normalisation of the nervous system responses to regulate itself and the endless benefits from simple and subtle forms of letting go.
· Teaching both structure and freedom — developing signature sequences, building confidence in choreography, AND facilitating free-form movement
· Creating & hosting embodied movement events — from intimate 90-minute classes to creating Retreats for those who want to do our full 500hr Yoga & Mindfulness Teacher Training.
WHY THIS IS DIFFERENT & MORE ACCESSIBLE
Most movement trainings teach either choreography or free-form. Yin to Dance teaches you to hold both simultaneously. Some people are intimidated by free-form movement and maybe put off by the term ‘ecstatic dance’ and not really know what it means. Some people may feel inhibited or just as intimidated by choreography. Your students need options.
You’ll learn to read what a group needs and how to create group and individual intention setting — whether it’s structure, freedom, or the beautiful space in between.
WHAT PEOPLE CAN EXPERIENCE:
Yin to Dance is a creative doorway into meditation. Not the sit-still kind. The moving, listening, discovering kind.
When people move with intention — supported by live music and / or curated playlists, guided by your presence, and held in a safe container, the experiences can be simple joy or quite profound. Insights can arrive during the session or after. Messages can come through simply because you release tension from the body and enjoy the music. Wisdom can surface from the music itself – consciously chosen – or it can bubble up from inside. Often it’s surprisingly deeply connecting and light all at the same time.
People describe these sessions and these types of trainings as fresh. Light. Joyful. A journey full of surprises.
It’s different every time. People return because they never know what they’ll discover about themselves. And they always feel better for having done it!
You’ll learn to create that. To understand how sound affects the body, mind, and heart connection. To recognize when silence is medicine and when rhythm is the doorway back to that child like joy. To trust that wisdom and relief that often arrives disguised as joy.
